Short List Projects

Building on the collaborative work completed during project identification and evaluation, the Tampa Bay Regional Infrastructure Accelerator (RIA) has advanced a select group of the longlist projects for more detailed analysis. These projects were identified as strong candidates to support regional mobility, economic competitiveness, and long-term growth, while demonstrating the strongest alignment with innovative funding, financing, and delivery approaches.

The following projects have been selected for the Tampa Bay RIA Shortlist:

  • Tampa International Airport to Downtown Tampa Premium Transit Connection
  • Westshore Intermodal Center
  • I-275 Managed Lanes
  • Alternative US 19 Bus Rapid Transit Corridor
  • InVision Streetcar Extension

Together, these projects represent a diverse portfolio of multimodal investments that address some of the region's most significant transportation needs. While several are physically located within Hillsborough County, their benefits extend well beyond jurisdictional boundaries by enhancing regional connectivity, supporting freight and economic activity, expanding travel options, and improving access to key employment and activity centers throughout Tampa Bay.

The shortlist reflects the continued collaboration of regional partners, including Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties, the City of Tampa, the City of St. Petersburg, Tampa International Airport, the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority, HART, PSTA, and Port Tampa Bay. Their input has helped ensure that the projects moving forward align with the region's shared transportation goals and priorities.

As the RIA progresses, these projects will be evaluated in greater detail to identify implementation strategies, potential funding and financing opportunities, and next steps for accelerating project delivery. The Tampa Bay RIA remains committed to working with stakeholders across the region to advance transformative transportation investments that support a more connected, resilient, and competitive future.
